Sophie Fatus (France)

How the idea for your silent story was born?

The idea was born in the autumn of two year ago, while I was watching plants and trees becoming yellow and withered . It is when I started to imagine about their new lives.

What's the story about?

A little girl, while dreaming, takes part to the dance of the autumnal leaves: they seem light-hearted when playing with joy during the last moments of their lives. But when from a snowflake and from the “Master Tree” a new seed is born, the leaves together with the little girl give their warmth and life to the seed to help him grow. From this union a new season will rise so as the tree of the Armonious Heterogeneity.

Why have you decided to enter the contest?

It’s been so many years, almost from the very beginning of the contest, that I wanted to take part in it! I made a lot of sketches every year, trying everytime projects and different idea but the big dimensions of the silent books seemed to me like a sort of monster capable of destroying every idea of mine! But this year, with the help of my garden and supported by my partner, I’ve resisted and do it all the way till the end, overtaking the obstacle.

Your story is dedicate to...

To my garden.
