MISSING!

Lida Ziruffo (Italy)

How the idea for your silent story was born?

I have always had the desire to depict a story featuring children experiencing an adventure together, trying to capture their facial expressions, smiles, and the shifts in their features. What began as an exercise — a game of images without text — developed and took root spontaneously, despite the work behind it.

What's the story about?

Missing is the story of a young boy searching for his pet, dragged along by his sister who encourages him to go play in the park. Unexpectedly, playing, even in the heart of the city, can become an encounter with nature.

Why have you decided to enter the contest?

I have known about and followed this competition for years; I have always created illustrations based on texts, and the idea of working on a silent book project has always been a goal of mine — partly as a game, and partly to assert a certain independence in storytelling.
