Lucia Carlini (Italy)

How the idea for your silent story was born?

Last year I lived on an island for a while. This winter, a deep melancholy set in: I missed the sea and the sky. I have left home more than once, but the places and people we have loved continue to live inside us.

What's the story about?

A young woman feels that her island is starting to feel too small for her. She leaves for the city, amidst new streets and lights, but nostalgia grows in her heart. On the beach, she finds a thread: pulling it, she brings her island and her loved ones closer, discovering that our roots always remain a part of us.

Why have you decided to enter the contest?

I decided to enter this contest because I felt that this story was screaming inside me to be told — without words, without rules, without expectations.
