In my book, I started from the problem of light pollution, which affects not only fireflies, but also other animals. There is also a lesson in this story. What we desire is not necessarily the best for us. Everyone has to find their own light!
The firefly hatches before the others. Fascinated by the shining city, it decides to fly there. After a while it realizes that it’s not the light it was looking for. Fireworks convince firefly to return. Along with a girl finds a more beautiful light than artificial in the form of a flock of fireflies in a meadow. The firefly finally finds a place where it is seen and appreciated.
I entered the contest because I think my book has a beautiful and true message. It shows the real problem of these fascinating creatures and the reason why they are slowly diminishing.
She is 20 years old and she is currently studying the second year of her bachelor’s degree in Didactic illustration in Pilsen in the Czech Republic. She enjoys playing with atmosphere in her illustrations as it allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the story or environment the illustration depicts.
