This story began as an idea about a journey inside a child’s imagination. It also reflects my experience of immigration and processing difficult emotions through art and work.
During a difficult time, a little girl starts drawing to distract herself. She and her toy horse soon step into her artwork, traveling through a world of magical, amusing, and weird creatures from her imagination. Along the way, they come face-to-face with a dragon. This story celebrates the joy of drawing and how creativity helps us face and overcome our worst fears.
I focus on telling stories and expressing emotion through visuals. I believe images can speak deeply to children, making this contest the perfect place to share my wordless story.
