I wanted to create a story featuring a dinosaur and an explorer. While developing the characters, I found making a story around their size differences could be very fun.
The story is about a boy explorer who stumbles upon a footprint and embarks on an adventure to track down the creature that left it. Armed with a sketch of the footprint, the boy meets animals along the way, who give him hints on where to go. Walking through exotic and whimsical landscapes, he finally encounters what he is looking for (along with a big surprise!).
I’m a great fan of the Silent Book Contest and have been wanting to develop a wordless book for a long time. This is the first time I have submitted a project and I’m thrilled to be among the finalists!
Thais is a Brazilian illustrator and mixed-media artist who loves bringing words to life through pictures. Holding a BA in Fine Arts and an MFA in Media and Design, Thais blends this background to create pictures rich in textures, collages, and patterns. Since 2017, Thais has lived in a green city in the heart of Germany and works as a full-time illustrator and designer.
