THE WORKMAN

Luca Testi (Italy)

How the idea for your silent story was born?

As a child, I was a road sign enthusiast, spending hours drawing them with my cousin. The idea for this book came to me after seeing photos of signs modified and made “alive” by the work of some writers.

What's the story about?

The story features the construction cartel man. As night falls on the traffic signal depot, after a day of work in a statuesque pose, he decides to embark on a small nighttime adventure among the traffic signals, which will lead him to meet other figures, get lost in roundabouts and crossroads, and experience incredible misadventures before the coveted final prize: an evening of relax in nature!

Why have you decided to enter the contest?

I’ve always been intrigued by silent books and their ability to communicate without words. I decided to enter the competition after seeing the Carthusia’s illustrated books at past fairs and events.
